Omaha Bus Tranist Authority Open House - Learn to Rack You Bike on a Bus

Gosh darn it. I had hoped the be the first to blog about MAT's announcements on using the bus racks, but two other Omaha cycling blogs beat me to it.

Hats off to MTB Omaha and Omaha-Commute for being on top of this.

Anyway, click here to read the official announcement. I'll be at MAT headquarters at 5pm for sure. Be sure to RSVP at the web site.

You were my first source on the announcement - thanks for the update. So with this, it's official. You've now surpassed me as a MAT & cycling commuter enthusiast. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make the open house.

I saw your bike at the rack this morning - was it raining when you rode in? Did you cycle home or catch a ride?

I blasted in on the GT Karakoram mountain bike while it was raining. Looks like my ride home will be more of the same. Yesterday, I ran home in a heavy downpour. It was refreshing, but I was glad that the destination was home when I arrived soaking head to foot.

I dunno... as long as you're keeping a bus spotting log book, I think you reign king as MAT fanboy. :)

Honestly, I don't know that I will have much opportunity for a multi-mode commute. I live two blocks away from the bus line that takes me straight downtown with no transfers. I might do a bus-in-ride-home, or vice versa scenario to dodge totally nasty weather, or if I need to go somewhere immediately after work and don't have time to clean up.

I arrived at work around 6:30am, so I beat the rains in. I did ride home in it this afternoon.

I learned my lesson yesterday that as long as it's not cold, I'd probably prefer to get wet from rain rather than from the sweat and steam generated underneath my rain jacket.

I've been wrapping up my stuff inside my pannier, but it seems to keep out the light rains that we had yesterday and today. I think rain covers are a good idea.

Hopefully we'll get a little but of dry weather over the weekend.
